We recently (August 2024) had the pleasure of heading out birding in the south-western part of Thailand with Panuwat Wongyahweh (Par) and his colleague Max. We reached out to Wild Bird Eco whilst organizing our Thailand trip and found them to be both highly, and quickly, responsive to emails, and very helpful. The pre-trip itinerary, communication and information provided was excellent. We booked a private, three day tour and it was so efficiently organized. We were picked up at our motel, and it was a relief to have all transfers, accommodation, most meals, park entrances and so forth sorted. The accommodation that was organized for us was excellent, we couldn’t fault either of the places we stayed at (my personal favorite was Samarn Bird Camp). Par and Max were excellent guides, Par knowing most, if not all, of the bird calls of the species we saw. Both Par and Max were friendly, accommodating and great traveling companions. We really felt relaxed in their company. They not only shared information on Thailand's birds but also projects implemented by the King and NGO's. This added so much to our trip and our understanding of Thailand's wildlife and what is being done to protect it. They also explained and gave us the opportunity to taste street food which was excellent. We really couldn’t fault our time with Wild Bird Eco. We went to a large number of habitats, and, in the end, saw 140 species of bird.
We will definitely be returning to Thailand and will again book with Wild Bird Eco. If you're looking for an efficient, professional and friendly local bird guide, we would highly recommend Thailand's Par and Wild Bird Eco.
This is the second year in a row my wife and I travelled to Thailand for bird watching and we used the service of Wild Bird Eco Tours’ for both trips. The fact we have used the same company two years in a row says a lot about the quality of their service. Panuwat (Par), the company’s General Manager and one of the company’s guides, guided part of our tour in 2023 and our entire tour this year. We were extremely impressed with Par’s service. His knowledge about bird behavior, his field experience / skill, his keenness for finding our target birds and his perseverance culminated in a wonderful trip during which we saw and photographed most of our target birds. I am writing to say a Big thank you to you for arranging a superb birding tour that exactly met our requirements. We completed the tour with some great photographs and were very pleased. The selection of accommodation was very good and comfortable. The transport vehicle was excellent and very comfortable and a special thanks to Mr. Chok our driver who not only did a fantastic and safe drive but was very helpful in carrying and helping with our heavy equipment. Ms End looked after us very well and made sure we enjoyed Thai cuisine to the maximum. She was always there to support and guide our group very well. Again thanks very much for a tour much enjoyed by all of us.

Par, We are at the Bangkok airport and return to the US tomorrow morning. Thank you so much for putting together our trips. The last three weeks were one of the BEST trips we have ever had anywhere in the world. We absolutely loved our guides and drivers. Somchat and Nang are not just excellent guides but very kind, thoughtful, smart, and helpful people. Very, very special. And Dew and Tui were superb drivers. Also super nice and professional. EVERYTHING was perfect from start to finish. Great lodges and hotels, some of the best food in the world, fantastic cultural experiences, and awesome birds and wildlife.We saw 422 species of birds and 21 mammal species which was way above our expectations.While the wildlife, culture, food, and scenery were fantastic, what made the trips so special was the same thing that made our trips here 30 years ago so special – the wonderful Thai people. We will definitely recommend your company to others. Absolutely outstanding.

- Crazy how M. Pia can spot bird without any binocular and have a really good knowledge of kaeng krachan. A big thanks to him, we saw a lot of crazy species! - I think M. Tii have a "spoonie" radar when i see how quick he can spot those birds. He offered us the opportunity to get the best observation we could dream of. A big thanks too!

Hello Panuwat. I start with the summary: Kai was the perfect Guide for us;)
- As far as I can say Kai has a very good knowledge about the birds. He is enthusiastic and did all to fulfill all our wishes.
- His general knowledge in nature, culture made him to a very important person to talk about a variety of themes.
- Food: We love eating, especially Thai food. The places where he brought us where great
- Accomodation: Perfect ( in Kao Sok one Hotel had overbooking, but they found a solution for us, and it was the problem of the hotel)
For me an absolut Highlight was the trip for the Great Argus and the Pitas…...All in all I will recommend you to everybody who wants birding in Thailand;)) Many thanks again and best regards from Switzerland

Thailand no.4 This is in English because we went on amazing birdwatching trip in Northern Thailand for five days and I want to recommend Wild Bird Eco Tour - Birding South East Asia.Our guide was the owner of the company - Panuwat. Very skillful and well organised. Enthusiastic birder for +25 years. Ton was our competent driver. Birder too. Both very helpful and gentle people.

We had a great trip and photography.Thank you very much for sending me some photos and a list of birds. By the way, I would like to take a picture of the banded pitta that you showed me during the trip, and I am planning to travel in Thailand next February. Although it is not on the tour list on your website, is it possible to request a 3-day tour from Phuket Airport or Krabi Airport?

Dear Panuwat,We were very happy with your service, thank you so much for organising it. Both guides Dteng and Chintana were excellent, in both birding and hospitality. We saw 293 species of which 196 were lifers. Including almost all of the target species: Spoon-billed Sandpiper, Nordmann's Greenshank, 3 different broadbills, 2 parrotbills, Blue and Rusty-Naped Pitta, Giant Nuthatch, Cutia, and of course Purple Cochoa! The trip was wonderful!!!! Khru Somchart was a fun guide. A member said that Khru Chart was the best guide at using the scope, that they have ever met (and they have done birdwatching all over the world). We all loved him. His English explanations were clear. He always identified the birds correctly. Also, he was flexible with our needs, and happy to change locations whenever we wanted. The driver was very good too. Thanks so much. We will recommend this to any birders. I got 10 new birds on my life list, which is amazing to me. Thank you again!!!!!

Thank you for the tremendous 5-day (30 Oct. - 3 Nov. 2018) birding adventure! From our start at Bang Phra to our final stop studying harriers, we were surrounded by great birds. From bee-eaters to broadbills, babblers to barbets, and shorebirds to sunbirds, I saw over 200 species of Thailand’s diverse birdlife. You showed your birding skills finding birds and getting me onto them quickly. We had magical moments with an orange-breasted trogon and a blue pitta, both tough species to find. I am especially grateful for how you quickly adjusted our itinerary following park access issues, and added extra stops to look for that thick-knee I was interested in. I hope to travel with Wild Bird Eco Tours again!

Thank you for the e.bird list .that was the first full days birding I have done with a professional guide.. have done several half days in Panama and Gautemala . It was wonderful and I’m very grateful for the time and knowledge and showing us the birds I would come on extended bird safari alone some time so keep me in mind fo up to 14 days small group but emphasise on photographers.
From me and some of the birds you helped me get.. I only stated with a camera when I turned 70 and yesterday was wonderful

The tour was great, Ms Nang is a very good guide (and a good cook !).
I've got much work with our pictures, I send you one, probably a juvenile of Hawk Cuckoo.It looked small for a Large Hawk Cuckoo... Ms Nang was not sure but rather thought about the Hodgson's. But there are very few pictures of Hodgson's Hawk Cuckoo on the net, may be you, or one of your guides, could help me ? Tell me if you want me to send you the pictures of the Blue Pitta...Best Regards from France
